Just outside of Ystad, we operate our business, where we live our dream. Allbäck's linseed oil paint contains no solvents and should not be thinned with any solvents. It is made from purified, sterilized linseed oil and natural pigments. Here, you'll find linseed oil, linseed putty, linseed soap, linseed wax, emulsion paint, and linseed oil paint in many popular shades, from green umber to English red.
We use a one-can system, with the same paint for both indoors and outdoors, and the same paint for all coats. Add 10-20% Linseed Oil Paint Zinc Oxide for outdoor painting. Our linseed oil paint has a volume dryness of 100%, covers between 15 and 25 square meters per liter, and dries within 24 hours. It is also emission-tested.
The story of Allbäck's linseed oil paint began in 1982 when both Sonja and Hans Allbäck were ill and looking for new ways to support themselves. Through a local museum, they connected with many old craftsmen who shared their knowledge of historical materials. With this knowledge combined with practical work, they formulated the dream of good craftsmanship—returning to a craft using environmentally friendly linseed oil to create their own linseed oil paint, free of harmful solvents. Since 2022, the company has been carried on in the same spirit by Mikael Bengtsson, André Bernhoff, and Katarina Johansson.
Already in the 1500s, linseed oil was used as a binder in paint in Sweden, and since then, it has been used for painting windows, doors, carpentry, and furniture. Today, the term linseed oil paint has become a collective term for a variety of products containing linseed oil as a binder. Allbäck’s linseed oil paint is made from Swedish, cold-pressed, purified, filtered, sterilized, and well-aged boiled linseed oil. It is produced without solvents and should not be thinned with any solvent. The colors are made from Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Chromium Oxide Green, and Ultramarine Blue. Compared to modern alkyd and plastic paints, Allbäck’s linseed oil paints cover more than twice the area. Therefore, the price is among the lowest on the market when calculated per square meter.
