How to Paint Indoors with Linus Wall Paint
Before painting your walls or ceiling with Linus Wall Paint, there are a few things to keep in mind. Depending on the surface and the desired texture, the paint covers between 10 and 12 sqm per liter. You can also use Linus Wall Paint mixed with pumice powder for filling and smoothing surfaces. To tint the white paint, you can add our ready-mixed pigments (except black, brick red, and ocean blue).
Linus is a matte wall paint, relatively thick, and offers endless possibilities. Therefore, it is essential to decide in advance how you want the final surface to look. We recommend doing a test application.
If the surface is highly absorbent, the paint may “chalk” after the first coat. This disappears once you have completed the painting. As the paint may emit a strong odor while drying, which can irritate the eyes, ensure good ventilation in the room. The smell decreases with airing and disappears within a couple of days.

Important Preparations
Do you need to fill uneven areas on the wall? There’s no need to buy additional filler—simply mix Linus Wall Paint with pumice powder.
- Pour off the surface water and keep the paint as thick as possible. If it is too thin, mix in pumice powder to thicken it.
- Use the paint as filler for wallpaper seams or uneven surfaces. It can also be used for full wall coverage.
- You can roll out Linus filler as well.
- Before painting, it is good to wet-sand the surface with a damp sponge.
How to Paint with Matte Wall Paint
Before starting, choose a garn roller, as it works well on all surfaces and holds a lot of paint. Stir the surface water back into the paint can thoroughly—improperly mixed paint can cause uneven patches.
- Test paint a section of the wall to find the texture you prefer. If you want a smoother surface, dilute the paint with water.
- If the texture appears rougher than desired, let the paint dry completely, then sand it down with sandpaper or wet-sand. Apply a second coat with thinner paint.
- If the surface is absorbent, such as raw plaster, drywall, or fabric, it is a good idea to pre-treat it with Primer. This reduces the risk of stains from water damage, nicotine, or soot.
- Start by painting the edges of the wall, then cover the entire wall. We recommend painting in strips of about one meter at a time. The paint sets relatively quickly, so it is best to work in a cool environment.
During Painting
- Allow the first coat to dry thoroughly—about 24 hours—before applying the next layer. Ensure proper ventilation.
- Sometimes, the paint reacts with the surface, extending the drying time of the first coat.
- You can leave your roller or brush in the paint overnight for the next day’s use. If you prefer to wash them, do so with water and let them dry completely. Any residual water squeezed out from the roller can cause light spots on the painted surface.
After Painting
- The paint takes a few days to fully cure, so be gentle with the surface and avoid cleaning it immediately.
- If you have leftover paint, you can store it. Pour surface water back into the can and seal it tightly. Store it frost-free, and it will last for years. If stored for a long time, you may need to strain it before reuse.
- After finishing your painting project, clean your rollers and brushes properly.
- Start by roughly washing them in a bucket with soapy water.
- Let the bucket sit until paint residue settles at the bottom. Pour off the clear water and dispose of the paint sludge in the trash.
- Finally, wash the rollers and brushes thoroughly with soap in the sink.
