Why You Should Choose Linseed Oil Wax from Allbäck

Linseed oil wax creates a water-repellent surface with a soft, silky matte sheen. Treated surfaces are easy to clean using a mild mixture of water and Allbäck Linseed Soap.

Drying time varies depending on the surface and type of wood, but it's always important to thoroughly wipe off any excess wax. A helpful tip is to use a terry cloth towel to ensure an even and durable finish.

Full curing can take up to a week, depending on the environment and the resin content of the wood. We always recommend doing a small-scale test before treating larger surfaces. This helps you assess how much wax the wood absorbs and allows you to adjust the treatment accordingly. Linseed oil wax may slightly alter the tone of the wood, creating a lively and natural variation.

How to Use Linseed Oil Wax – Step by Step

Proper preparation is key to achieving the best results. Follow these simple steps for a perfect finish:

1. Clean the surface thoroughly

Wash all surfaces with Allbäck Linseed Soap and water. Use a wet vacuum to remove the water. Be sure to neutralize any remaining lye or acids before applying the wax.

2. Sand and vacuum

Allow the surface to dry completely. If wood fibers have risen, lightly sand with fine sandpaper (grit 180–200). Then vacuum thoroughly to remove all sanding dust.

3. Apply a thin layer of linseed oil wax

Use a coarse sponge or lint-free cloth to apply the wax along the grain of the wood. Work the wax into the surface and apply as thinly as possible for a beautiful, durable result.

4. Wipe off excess wax

After about 60 minutes, carefully wipe away all excess wax using a terry cloth towel. It’s crucial that no sticky wax residue remains, as this can affect the curing process and final appearance.
