Allbäck linseed oil products.
In Sweden, at the top of northern Europe but as far south as Sweden goes, you’ll find Allbäck and their Linseed Oil Products. Where sandy beaches meet sea, where grassy meadows meet beech wood forest, and where the northern lights never seem to fade.
There, on the outskirts of Ystad, we live our dream.
In 1982 we created Allbäck Linseed Oil Products. We got together with several veteran craftsmen who taught us about these historical materials and that knowledge, combined with practical work, laid the foundation to our dream of the good work. We wanted to revive the handcraft of using environmentally friendly linseed oil to create our very own Linseed Oil Paint, without the use of environmentally hazardous solvents.
For the greatest part of 40 years, our Linseed Oil Paint has given new grandeur to the classic Château de Versailles palace in France, the Danish royal residences Amalienborg in Copenhagen and Charlotte Belin’s historical museum in the medieval town of Ystad, in southern Sweden.
Everything from cold-pressed Linseed Oil to Linseed Oil Paint
Allbäck Linseed Oil Paint is a classic Swedish handcraft. It contains neither solvents nor should it be diluted with solvent. It consists of deslimed and sterilized linseed oil with natural pigments. We offer linseed oil, linseed oil putty, linseed oil soap, linseed oil wax, emulsion paint and linseed oil paint in many popular shades, with everything from green umbra to English red.
Linseed oil, a Swedish painting tradition since the 16th century
Already in 16th century Sweden, linseed oil began to be used as a binder in paint and since then it has been used in painting windows, doors, joinery and furniture. Today, the concept of linseed oil paint has become a generic term for a variety of products containing linseed oil as a binder. Allbäck Linseed Oil Paint is made of Swedish, cold-pressed, deslimed, filtered, sterilized, aged and boiled linseed oil. The colours are made from Titanium Oxide, Iron Oxide, Chromium Oxide Green and Ultramarine Blue. Compared to modern alkyd and plastic paints, Allbäck Linseed Oil Paint covers more than twice the surface area. Therefore, in terms of price per square metre, it is the lowest on the market.
